I approached my cousin, Sara. She's a wife, a mama of three gorgeous children and has been using DoTerra oils for a few years. She swears they've completely benefited her family in numerous ways. So obviously she's my go-to girl for everything essential oils and natural remedies. I'm so thankful that she was willing to share a few of her favorite DIY recipes and that I can share them with you in the coming weeks.
We all know that it's important to take care of our skin and part of that is exfoliation. But how many of you use an exfoliator on your lips? I'm a chapstick junkie. For real. I have a problem. They are stashed everywhere in my house and car because if I find myself in need and without, my mind can't focus on anything other than finding chapstick. I seriously hope you aren't as crazy as me when it comes to your need for lip balm. But even with the constant slathering of sweet chapstick on my lips, I know it's STILL important to exfoliate. Sugar scrubs are wonderful, but they're even better with essential oils.
That being said (and if you're still following my crazy, lip balm addicted ass) here is a recipe for a completely beneficial Lip Scrub that you'll not only find useful and helpful, but completely yummy as well!
DIY Lip Scrub/Exfoliator
*one tbls superfine sugar (NOT powdered sugar. Think table sugar.)
*2 tsp fractionated coconut oil
*1-2 (but I'm a rebel and used 3) drops of essential oil
Mix sugar and coconut oil well. Add essential oils, mix and store in a sealed container. Massage a pea sized amount onto and around lips. Rinse or lick off and then follow up with lip balm/chapstick.
The essential oils I chose to use in my lip scrub, along with their
benefits, are as follows (one drop each):
Lavender: Soothing & healing
Wild Orange: Revitalizing & uplifting
Peppermint: Invigorating & cooling (it can even help with cold sores!)
Get ahead of the game, friends! Start now and keep your lips smooth and kissable aaallllll year round. xoxo
